joanne Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 iirc its a timing chain on yours?sorry i dont know, just know he pump has sheared off Quote
Saif Rehman Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Any competent mechanic (NOT MAIN DEALER) can replace a water pump in about 2 hours. So i would estimate the cost being around the Quote
sparky Paul Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) anyone know if it would have caused any more damage?the guy said the cam belt should be ok as the older models the cam belt is fairly well protected. No cam belt to worry about on the petrol engine models. As gregers says, the cams are driven by timing chain, so no possibility of any related damage. Edited November 13, 2009 by sparky Paul Quote
Mirez Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 When the water pump fails the car will eventually overheat and cause significant head damage, HOWEVER providing you pulled in pretty quickly and unless you drove it with the temp gauge in the red for some time then you should be fine with just a replacement pump.
